Vora Study – Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Vora Study mobile application (the "Application") developed by Vora Study (the "Service Provider") and is provided as a free service. By downloading or using the Application, you agree to this policy.

1. Information We Collect

When you download and use the Application, we may collect the following:

• Account Information: Display name, email address, and profile data provided during sign-up via Firebase Authentication (Google Sign-In or email/password).
• Usage Data: Pages visited, time spent, feature interactions, and session duration.
• Device Information: IP address, operating system, device model, and app version.
• User-Generated Content: Text messages in Study Rooms, photos uploaded for analysis, PDF files uploaded for summarization, and quiz/duel responses.
• Gamification Data: Points earned, streak counts, leaderboard rankings, and study history stored in Firebase Firestore.
• Push Notification Token: FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) token to deliver in-app notifications.

2. Third-Party Services & SDKs

The Application integrates the following third-party services that may collect data independently. Please review their privacy policies:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Remote Config, App Check, Cloud Messaging) – Privacy Policy
• Google Gemini AI / Google Cloud AI – Used to analyze images, PDFs, and text for educational content generation and moderation – Privacy Policy
• Groq API – Used as a fallback AI provider for text-based content generation – Privacy Policy
• OpenRouter – Used as a secondary fallback AI provider for text and vision tasks – Privacy Policy
• Google AdMob – Used to display advertisements. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and usage data – Privacy Policy
• Firebase Remote Config – Used to manage API configurations and feature flags remotely.

These providers act as data processors on our behalf. We share only the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

3. Artificial Intelligence Features

The Application uses AI to generate personalized learning content including summaries, flashcards, and quiz questions. When you submit a topic, photo, or PDF, the content is sent to one or more AI providers (Gemini, Groq, or OpenRouter) to generate educational material.

4. Study Rooms & Community Features

The Application includes real-time collaborative Study Rooms where users can exchange text messages and share educational images. The following applies:

• All messages and images in Study Rooms are visible to other room participants.
• Room names, creator names, and chat messages are stored in Firebase Firestore.
• Room owners may remove participants or ban users from their rooms.
• All content is subject to automated AI moderation (see Section 7).
• The Service Provider may review flagged content to maintain community safety.

5. Duel & AI Duel Features

The Application offers two competitive quiz modes:

• Duel (Player vs. Player): You may be matched with other registered users. Your display name, points, and quiz responses during a duel session are visible to your opponent and stored in Firebase Firestore for leaderboard and scoring purposes.
• AI Duel (Player vs. AI): Your quiz answers are processed locally and by our AI providers to generate questions and evaluate responses. No personally identifiable information beyond your account ID is transmitted during AI Duel sessions.

Duel results contribute to your leaderboard ranking and points balance, which are publicly visible to other users of the Application.

6. Photo & PDF Processing

When you upload a photo or PDF document:

• The file is sent securely to an AI provider (Google Gemini or OpenRouter) for analysis and content generation.
• Images are temporarily processed in memory and are not permanently stored by third-party AI providers beyond the duration of the API call, subject to their data retention policies.
• Generated summaries, flashcards, and quizzes are saved to your local device storage and optionally to Firebase for history purposes.
• Before processing, images are screened by our AI moderation system to check for policy violations.
• PDF text is extracted locally on your device; only the extracted text (not the original file) is transmitted to AI providers.

7. Content Moderation

To maintain a safe learning environment, all user-generated content (images, text messages in Study Rooms) is automatically screened using AI moderation (Google Gemini / OpenRouter) for:

• Profanity, insults, or hate speech
• Sexual content or nudity
• Violence or illegal material
• Harassment or targeted abuse

Content that violates these guidelines will be rejected. Repeated violations may result in permanent suspension of community features. The Service Provider reserves the right to review and remove any content at its sole discretion.

8. Background Music

The Application provides background music streams for focused study. We do not track, record, or store your listening preferences beyond the session needed for synchronization. Music is provided for personal, in-app use only.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specifically:

• Account data: Retained until you request deletion.
• Study history & generated content: Stored locally on your device and in Firebase until you delete it or request account deletion.
• Chat messages in Study Rooms: Retained in Firestore indefinitely unless deleted by the room owner or upon account deletion request.
• Leaderboard data: Points and rankings are retained until account deletion.

10. Account & Data Deletion

To delete your account and data, you can:

• In-app: Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account within the Application.
• By email: Send a deletion request to kayasultannur1234@gmail.com with subject line "Account Deletion Request" and your registered email address.

Upon a valid deletion request, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days. Note that some data may be retained for a limited period if required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention), after which it will be permanently deleted.

11. Children's Privacy

The Application is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to this Application without your consent, please contact us immediately at kayasultannur1234@gmail.com. We will take prompt steps to delete such information from our servers.

Users between 13 and 17 years of age should use the Application only with parental or guardian consent.

12. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

• Firebase App Check to prevent unauthorized API access
• HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit
• Firebase Security Rules to restrict unauthorized database access
• Google Play Integrity API verification on Android

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Application at your own risk.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification or by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
